Mandala in stone to decorate the terrace or garden

Another great idea is to decorate your terrace or garden with a painted mandala in stone. We have been inspired by the colors and mandalas of the chairs cushions that we have on our terrace that … I love them! ♥♥♥

Materials

To make this mandala you will need these materials.

  • Stones
  • Brushes
  • Sticks and punches of different sizes
  • Plugs, caps or compass
  • Pencil and rubber
  • Acrylic paints white, light blue, dark blue, turquoise, green, pink and red
  • Varnish

Before starting to make any craft, protect the surface with paper or plastic. Take a container with water (so that the brushes you are using will not dry) and paper napkins.

Now you are ready to start.

This is the step by step to follow to make your mandala in stone for the garden

1. Wash the stones

Washing the stones before you start is important so that the paint is well fixed on them.

2. Paint with white acrylic paint

Paint the stones with white acrylic paint and give them two or three layers. Allow to dry very well between each layer.

3. Start the center by making pink dots

Draw with a cap to delimit the drawing of the mandala. Paint pink dots with acrylic paint. Start at the center by making a white dot with the sticks to make the dark blue dots inside.

4. Draw a circle with the pencil

Draw a circle around the pink dots leaving space to make the triangles that you can color with blue, white and green. If you want you can use markers, although acrylic paint is better for this case.

5. Paint more dots

Add smaller points to fill in the spaces.

6. Use different sizes for the dots

To add larger dots, you can use the back of a pencil or a cap with which to use it as a pointillism tool.

7. Use the same colors and combine them

When combining the same colors the mandala will have harmony. Therefore, add smaller dots with the same tone punch.

8. Protect with varnish

Finally apply a couple of layers of varnish to protect your mandala, so you can enjoy it longer.

Here is the end result!

If you find it difficult to make a mandala with dots, you can also try doing it with pens instead of using a brush, such as a flower mandala.

In this link you can see simple flower drawings and this great video of how we made the flowers with blue background.

We hope you have enjoyed it and helped inspire you with the decoration of your home to practice this very special art.
